Pantone’s 2020 Colour of The Year

T

his one I really like!!

The colour is Classic Blue, think of the colour of the sky at dusk. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, which selects the Color of the Year.

Living by the ocean, this colour just lends itself to my lifestyle but more than that, it is a Classic that you can incorporate into any colour scheme.

It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, and truth. Blue is calming and stable and is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

Pantone has created five custom colour palettes that you can check out to see how you might incorporate this Classic Blue into your decorating or designs for this year.

Here are a few finds that I have come up with that you can easily incorporate into your home space:

Here are a few easy and inexpensive updates.

So, if you are interested in giving your space an easy colour update, I hope these gave you some ideas of what’s out there.  Let me know if you do any updating.  Better yet, send me a photo!!

Your Easy Fall To-Do List

Your Easy Fall To-Do List

Your Easy Fall To-Do List

Fall here on the Pacific Northwest typically comes in gradually.  Temperatures start dropping with back-to-school time, leaves start turning colour and then finally mid to late October, start falling.
Outside Fall Decor Welcomes Visitors

With the list of chores for getting ready for winter, I also like to do some things around my home to celebrate the change of season.

Here are some ideas that might work for you too:

  • Put away the summer cushions on the furniture
  • Cover the furniture before the rains start
  • Change out the outside front entry decor
Halloween Decorating
  • Beginning of October, add Halloween decor
  • Pick up some pumpkins for carving
  • Pick up some pumping spice scented candles
  • Make GF apple crumble
  • Make pumping pie
  • Starbucks Pumpking Spice Latee
Add Fall/Winter Plantings for Colour & Texture
  • Replace outdoor garden annuals with fall/winter plantings (look for texture & colour)
  • Pick up some chrysanthemums to replace in summer pots
  • Add fall decor touches inside
  • Transition to fall/winter wardrobe
  • Go on some walks/hikes to take in the beautiful change of colours and the crisp fresh fall air
  • Schedule some quiet time to do some year end reflecting and planning
  • Pick out some good books for fall reading
  • Buy and go through September Vogue
  • Pick out some good Netflix programs for those cool, lazy days

As you can see, my list really revolves around nesting at this time of year.  I think fall invites some reflection and some relaxation.

What could you suggest that I add to my list?

I want to hear from you. Send me a note, leave me a comment.
